The short version
No account. No ads. No tracking scripts. Solo progress saves in this browser. Daily rankings send the game, puzzle date, numeric result and a one-time ID. Multiplayer sends your nickname and moves to the room server.
What the game saves on your device
Your rounds, guesses, stats, streaks and settings are saved in this browser. That is how the game remembers you. The game itself sets no cookies.
If you clear your browser data, your progress is gone. To move solo progress to another device, use a save code that you copy and paste yourself.
Daily finish rankings
When you finish a ranked daily game, the game sends which game you finished, the puzzle date, a random ID made for that one finish and a number describing your result. That number is how many guesses you needed, how many characters you named, or your colour match percentage. It does not send your name, email, actual guesses, answers or selected colour. The ID is not reused to identify you across games or days.
The server gives your submission a place and counts submitted finishes. Your finish number is the order submissions reached the ranking server. The “Better than” percentage compares your numeric result with other results for that game and day. Equal results are ties. The percentage can change as more results arrive and becomes final at the daily reset. These are submitted finishes, not unique players: clearing browser storage or playing on another device can add another finish.
The random ID lets a retry recover the same place instead of counting again. Recovery ends 24 hours after that puzzle day closes at midnight US Eastern. We schedule deletion of the IDs, their places and linked results then and retry cleanup if it fails. Expired IDs cannot recover a place, even if cleanup is delayed. After cleanup, only the game, date, total count and counts of each numeric result remain in the active ranking database. These grouped counts have no names or IDs attached. We keep them so older results can still be looked up.
Cloudflare’s database recovery can restore data from the past 30 days, so deleting an ID from the active database does not immediately remove it from those recovery copies.
Your place and the one-time ID are also saved in this browser and included if you export a save code. No lasting browser ID, account or public player list is used. Cloudflare processes your IP address to limit spam requests; the game does not save it in ranking records. Ranking error logs contain general error types, not IDs or submitted data.
Multiplayer
In Multiplayer, the game sends your nickname, your guesses and the room code to its server, so everyone in the room sees the same round. Rooms are deleted after 24 hours without activity.
The server uses your IP address to limit spam room requests. Cloudflare Workers Logs keeps logs for 3 days on the Free plan or 7 days on the Paid plan. The game's logs contain multiplayer event counts and general error types, not nicknames, guesses, room codes or reconnect tokens.
Bug reports
When you press Submit, your selected game, description and optional reply email are sent through Cloudflare to our report inbox. Do not include passwords or other sensitive information. Reports are kept in that inbox so we can investigate and reply; the game does not keep a separate report database.
Who runs the site
The site, daily rankings and Multiplayer run on Cloudflare. There are no ads, analytics or tracking scripts in the game.
